UPN continues its commitment to community support by presenting £4,500 to Alzheimer’s Society

United Pallet Network (UPN) has reinforced its commitment to community support by presenting £4,500 to Alzheimer’s Society following its recent Annual Awards celebration.

The funds were raised through a charity raffle and auction held as part of the company’s annual awards event, reflecting the generosity and shared purpose of the UPN membership. The donation was particularly meaningful this year, as Alzheimer’s Society was chosen as the charity of Liam Connolly Roadfreight, winners of the UPN Members’ Member Award 2024.

The donation was presented by UPN Regional Director Andrew Knowles and Sue Keenan to David and Margaret Barnes, who represented Alzheimer’s Society.

This fundraising shows UPN's desire to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

Margaret Barnes said: “Every pound raised helps us reach more families facing the daily realities of dementia. In Staffordshire, that means more advice, more support groups, and more moments of connection through services like Singing for the Brain. We are incredibly grateful to UPN for standing alongside us in the fight to ensure no one faces dementia alone.”

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. It devastates lives, overwhelms families and carers, and places immense pressure on the NHS, social care, and the wider economy. Alzheimer’s Society is leading the way in tackling the condition — funding pioneering research, campaigning to make dementia the priority it must be, and delivering frontline support to those who need it most.

Andrew Knowles added: “At UPN, we believe successful businesses have a responsibility beyond the bottom line. Our members always step up when it matters, and this fundraising effort shows the strength of our network and our shared desire to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.”

Since its inception in 2001, UPN has consistently championed charitable causes, recognising that strong businesses help build stronger communities. Together, UPN and Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a future where dementia no longer devastates lives.
